TEACHER ASSISTANT APPLICATION

The CBS Teacher Assistant Program is designed for dancers who want to pursue dance instruction.  Aspiring instructors gain valuable production and performance experience and are given opportunities to develop responsibility and time management skills in a supportive environment.

Specifically, students learn classroom management, syllabus design and execution, and an introduction to child development.

COMMITMENT

  • 43-week season
  • If your schedule does not allow for this time commitment, you must inform us on this application.
  • You are expected to inform us of any absences effecting your TA assignment.
  • 3 unexcused absences will result in dismissal.
  • Any color, modest leotards and skirt are required for all ballet classes you are assisting. For all other classes, please wear applicable dress code requirements.
  • All designated meetings once a month from 8:00-9:00 AM.
  • Assisting as backstage crew, lobby help, dressing room help or on-stage performer for Holiday Showcase, as well as the Primary Division Performances in May. This means a commitment to all Dress Rehearsals and Performances on those dates, in addition to in-studio rehearsals 2 weeks prior to performances.
  • Instructional training with Colorado Ballet Society faculty & staff.
  • Minimum requirement 1 class/week
  • May not perform with class on stage
  • Attends all TA meetings 1x per month
  • Follows all Commitments & Expectations
  • Minimum requirement 1 class/week
  • Will perform on stage (if applicable)
  • Follow all Commitments & Expectations
  • May be assigned to a specific dancer or group of dancers. These dancers are often those who may have conditional support needs
  • Minimum requirement 2 classes/week
  • Will perform on stage (if applicable)
  • Attends all TA meetings
  • Follows all Commitments & Expectations
  • Able to lead warm-up if asked
  • Leads 1-3 exercises/week
  • May be called to sub for the instructor
  • Minimum requirement 1 class/week – unpaid position
  • Minimum requirement 1 class/week – paid position
  • May or may not perform on stage
  • Attends all TA meetings
  • Follows all Commitments & Expectations
  • Able to lead warm-up if asked
  • Leads 1-3 exercises/week
  • May be called to sub for the instructor

CLASS PREP

  • Moving barres as necessary
  • Ensuring props are ready to go
  • Turning on/adjusting music as needed
  • Lining students up outside assigned their studio
  • Fill out a timecard each time you assist faculty, attend meetings, or work at a performance
  • If you are unable to attend Dress Rehearsals, you may be dismissed from the program
  • TA may be reassigned at any time based on Director/Management discretion and studineeds

REWARDS

Ballet bucks are based on cumulative hours within the season or if the dancer chooses to leave CBS. All dancers will be invited to an end-of-year party.

Ballet Bucks to be used toward tuition or at the Ballerina Boutique.
