Colorado Ballet Society sponsors in-studio physical therapy for students and teachers. While dance excellence is always our goal, we consider the health and welfare of our students paramount. We are privileged to offer the PT services of Dr. Allison Brown, who is our own CBS parent, lecturer, consultant and assistant pre-pointe teacher.
Appointments can be scheduled through the Front Desk or through your Parent Portal.
Dr. Allison Brown has been associated with Colorado Ballet Society since 2013 as a parent, lecturer, consultant and assistant pre-pointe teacher.
Dr. Brown earned her clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy as part of the nation’s first DPT class at Creighton Medical Center, after receiving her undergraduate degree in Public Health and Health/Science Education at the University of Nebraska. Since earning her doctorate, she has specialized in many areas of pediatric and young adult care including college sports. Dr. Brown has a special interest in hypermobility, performing arts medicine and adolescent/young adult holistic care.
Currently, Dr. Brown holds contracts with a national agency providing physical therapists to touring performing artists, and works part-time at Children’s Colorado on the orthopedic PT team. She holds numerous certifications including Dynamic Tape and Kinesiotape Techniques, Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and a number of levels I and II courses with Lisa Howell, dance Physiotherapist of the Ballet Blog.
Dr. Scott A. Jones joins us in his first season here at Colorado Ballet Society, but has been working with our dancers and families for years. Dr. Scott provides integrative movement performance coaching by looking far deeper than your obvious symptoms or painful structure.
He evaluates complete regional movement patterns, not just isolated pain, even integrating functional breathing and the effects of stress into a whole-person, root-cause analysis of the barriers keeping you from attaining your best.
Dr. Scott A. Jones has an extensive wellness and nutrition background. In the Air Force he served as a physical therapist and as the director of multidisciplinary health and wellness clinics, including orthopedics & general surgery.
His “whole-person” emphasis has helped amateur & professional athletes achieve their dreams, in addition to enabling countless individuals from elementary school through retirement to reach their personal wellness and fitness goals.
Some of his therapeutic treatments include:
• Movement Performance Coaching
• Yoga & Mindfulness
• Breathwork Instruction
• Stress Reduction
Dr. Scott says he enjoys PT as a profession, but the need for an integrative path going well beyond a minimum standard of care is long overdue. In his practice, one’s evaluation and prescription is as unique and specialized as one’s movement, and pain barriers. That leads to his philosophy and integration of experience as a Movement Performance Coach helping others integrate body-mind-spirit, accelerate recovery, and restore energy.
